Back in October 2009 I got nspired by Dorsett Inuit art again, and a greek coin from the recent Treasures exhibit here in town at teh RBC museum. I was experimenting with watercolour pencil crayons for the first time.

Handmaid being re-made

 
 
This gal was made in a MISSA workshop with Billy Ray Mangham in Summer 2007. She got totally mutilated (lost hand, arm broken off, tiara missing pieces) in the kiln when the suspected tipsy instructor unloaded. I had been so dejected about fixing her that she has sat in a box for all this time. Still, she has been in the back of my head now for a long while. She needed to be fixed before I could move onto new things... she deserved to be fixed. So, lots of epoxy and airdry clay (for her hand), even some polyfiller later, she is coming together. Murray has a visceral dislike of her, but I love her. She is like one of my kids. She is this weirdo juvenille dragon hybrid futuristic alien princess freak kid. Doesn't everyone have one of those?I've got more to do on her still-- tattoos etc... so stay tuned...

Hospital visit for Tj's pirate crow

 
 
 
Tj's raven/ crow needed a fix after Tjabo (ab)used him last halloween by affixing him to his shoulder as part of his pirate costume. Seems fixing things is where I am at these days. I took pity on the poor bird and made him a new beak and foot from (after much consideration) Sculpy Lite-- good stuff. You can file (and apparently carve) it after you have hardened it in the oven. Takes paint well. Am pleased-- so is the crow, as you can see!
